DUMB INSTRUCTIONS - Not dumb instructions because they are supposedly ‘dumb’, but because they are fully ‘silent’. In 2022 I started this business with a single commission, after my father’s idea: a fully non-lingual instruction. In short: a ‘Dumb Instruction’. With these illustrations I’m aiming to make instructions, safety procedures, informative pinpoints, one point lessons and other kinds of step-by-steps comprehensible without the use of language.
There are a lot of places where we come across conditions, procedures, rulebooks and countless other documents. These documents are however always language-based. Those text written documents are, however, not necessarily best for everyone. People might have difficulties reading (in a specific language), or they have a greater understanding of images than words, or they rapidly scan through the documents and miss vital information. With these illustrated ‘silent’ instructions those words become simple, yet effective, images - pleasing for the eye and accessible and readable for everyone.
